Having persistent, embedded chat on your page can be a vital point in online retail. It immediately shows your customers that you're available to chat, and they can always refer to you while browsing the page, without juggling multiple windows or tabs.

We have polled our customers to see what performs best and it's settled - an embedded window is the modern way to go.

1. Ease of use and accessibility

First of all, it gives a feeling familiar to day-to-day Facebook users. It resides in the lower right hand corner of your pages, can be minimized if not needed, but also invoked at any time without the hassle to find a "click to chat button".

2. Self-Explanatory page functionality

Being an element of the page, rather than a pop-up window, it avoids ad-blockers, commonly installed to circumvent display of unwanted content. It is very typical, that users close any window that pops up on them, even before it actually loads. This means, that even though your prospect may be looking to reach out to you, he can unknowingly keep closing the window that's designed for you two to communicate.

3. Style and Elegance
Simplicity and elegance alc_1.pngre unquestionable advantages of an embedded design. While a popup contains an unappealing URL string, and can be dragged around the screen, it will always be a separate browser window. If someone maximizes it, opens in a tab, you can be sure that the aesthetic experience level will drop below zero. On the other hand, fitting a neat little widget into your page can be a great way to decorate it, if you're a fan of minimalist, stylish pages.

The problem with embedded windows up to date, was that they were written with Flash technology, and as a result they were exclusive to computers and browsers capable to use a Flash plugin. This limited access from becoming more and more popular web-mobile browsers, installed commonly in smarphones and tablets such as the BlackBerry or iPad. We decided it was time to show the world a chat window that doesn't use Flash and here we are!

4. Proactivity and control

There's also no point in remaining passive. Embedded chat windows enable you to open them up for customers proactively with customary greetings, automated upon a set of defined rules. This gives you the edge on personal support, where every visitor will feel that it's you reaching out, knowing their needs and expectations. They will want to participate in a chat with such an aligned sales-person. From that point on, your own skills will determine whether you make a successful sale.
